Meet the Candidates Forums

Working Toward a More Informed Electorate

For over 20 years CBES has held Meet the Candidates Forums as a service to our community. The purpose is to provide an unbiased and civil setting that allows each candidate to present his/her position.

These are held Shore-wide for contested local elections in Accomack & Northampton Counties including Board of Supervisors, Constitutional Officers, and State Senator and Delegate seats. (Town elections are not covered.)

The forums are significant as there are very few opportunities in our local and state elections where citizens can listen to both candidates answer questions that are focused on Eastern Shore issues.

It’s important to note these are not debates but rather a structured format of Opening and Closing Statements and written questions from the audience as time allows.

Over the years we have partnered with civic organizations and Shore Daily News/WESR Radio to expand the reach of the forums.
