Show Up - Be Heard
Local officials shouldn’t operate in a vacuum.
Democracy works best when citizens show up to observe and/or share concerns with their Boards of Supervisors at county meetings, and meetings of other county boards.
Public Hearings
are required for ordinances, rezonings, financial borrowings/bond transactions, annual budget and taxes.
Public Notice
of the date, time, and location must be made available. Check county websites. Also, the Eastern Shore Post as the paper of record will have upcoming Public Hearings printed toward the back of the newspaper in the Legal Notices.
Public Comments
Regular Meetings (not Work Session) of the Board of Supervisors provide a Citizen/Public Comment Period usually near the beginning of their agendas with a time limit between 3 – 4 minutes.
Community Calendar

Meeting dates and locations can change. For the current status of public meetings, go to the appropriate website or contact staff by email or phone.
